Oregon has been very good in football. I’ve said this all along. Once USC and UCLA left and we were talking Pac-12 versus a Texas/OU-less Big 12, I felt like the two most attractive football brands in the whole pie between those two leagues were Washington and Oregon. They’re certainly not Ohio State and Michigan from a rating standpoint, but they do pretty good numbers, certainly, Seattle is a big TV market, you have some history.

Oregon and Washington’s viewership is considerably higher than any of the Big 12 schools. Believe it or not, now this is based on the past decade when they’re actually pretty good, Stanford’s is higher than anybody in the Big 12’s. I don’t think that’ll be the case going forward. It doesn’t make sense in a vacuum that the Pac-12 should be getting a worse deal than the Big 12 at all, much less a considerably worse deal. But spreadsheets don’t negotiate TV deals. People do.

So Oregon was looking at a future where: ‘Hey, we could be the top dog in the Pac-12 or we’ll compete with Washington and Utah and if we win the conference, we’re going to the Playoff.
