Judy Poe, 79, was found dead on March 12 after her adult son reported to police that his mother was dead on East Logsden Road in Siletz. According to court documents, the man, later identified as Robert Bruce Poe, 56, was covered in blood and standing in the driveway when deputies arrived at the property.

His mother was found nearby with a large wooden stake sticking out of her throat, believed to be part of a broken gardening tool.Poe reportedly told deputies that his mom was a vampire who often "poked him at night and he would often wake with blood on his sheets," and that he had to kill her to protect himself.

Poe was arraigned Wednesday on second-degree murder charges and is due back in court on March 20. Jail records show he is being held without bail.
