The Christmas Day game did not offer a definitive answer on how things would play out in the postseason.
LOS ANGELES — After he poked the ball out of LeBron James’ hand, Clippers guard Patrick Beverley stared down the courtside fans. Then he taunted them.over the Lakers on Christmas Day in a designated road game at Staples Center after Beverley denied James the chance to tie the game and force overtime. It gave the Clippers bragging rights over the Lakers after collecting two early regular-season wins.
In a game that featured 16 lead changes and 10 ties, the Lakers had plenty of time to force overtime. Then the reversal happened. Consider this, though: After the Lakers held a 63-51 halftime lead, they suddenly could not make many 3’s in the second half and suddenly struggled to defend without fouling . That resulted in a huge discrepancy at the free-throw line between the Clippers and the Lakers . James had 23 points while shooting only 9-of-24 from the field and 2-of-12 from behind the arc, but those numbers arguably had as much to do with his groin injury as it did with the Clippers throwing varying defenders him.
