Opinion: Why are Republicans afraid of the full Mueller report?

A House panel voted Wednesday to authorize subpoenas to obtain special counsel Robert S. Mueller III’s full report on Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election, laying down a marker in a constitutional power struggle that could end up in the courts. One explanation is that they’re getting signals that it’s what Trump wants. As Trump tweeted Tuesday, “There is no amount of testimony or document production that can satisfy Jerry Nadler or Shifty Adam Schiff. It is now time to focus exclusively on properly running our great Country!”
Here’s the thing about that: There are, almost without question, lots and lots of things in the report that will make Trump look bad, even if they aren’t criminal and even if they aren’t startling new revelations. For instance, we already know that through the 2016 primaries, Trump was trying to arrange a deal to build a Trump Tower in Moscow, a deal that could have garnered him hundreds of millions of dollars, which he concealed from the public.
