Opinion: Whether Sen. Dianne Feinstein runs in 2024 or not, Senate hopefuls should show her respect [Opinion]
, Dodgers broadcaster Vin Scully and actor-activist George Takei, just to name a few.
It’s clear Feinstein has earned the right to leave on her own terms. The senator led the push for a 10-year “assault weapons” ban, publicized CIA torture after 9/11 and supported same-sex marriage early on. Yet it’s also clear this shouldn’t stop state politicians from publicly positioning themselves for her seat, whether she runs in 2024 or not.
It’s good that this race is out in the open now, so voters can begin to compare challengers’ strengths and weaknesses to Feinstein’s — or to each other’s.
