Opinion: We are a synagogue where our transgender members have found a place of welcome, inclusion [Opinion]
This is what the prophet Micah means when he calls on us to walk humbly with God and to remember the words of God when God chastises Job’s so-called friends. God rhetorically asks these friends where they were when God was busy imagining and shaping this infinitely beautiful world. The answer is, we were still just a blip in the Divine Imagination.
We affirm and celebrate the infinite creativity of The Eternal One, and we thank God for our community, which itself is filled with beautiful souls from all walks of life and differing perspectives. We are united in our Jewish community and in our belief in living our lives in a community of respect, kindness, diversity of personhood and opinion and love. May it ever be so.
