Opinion: Sewage spill beach closures are more than just an inconvenience [Opinion]
We need help now, not in two to five years. We all need to contact our elected representatives and demand action on behalf of our beach communities and San Diego.Thank you for calling attention to sewage in the ocean at Coronado and Imperial Beach. Your article highlighted the personal stories that accompany this public health disaster.
Our national security is at risk as the SEALs cannot train in these waters. The business community, especially the tourism industry, will see fewer dollars come into its pockets, and life guards and border patrol officers risk their health when they enter this water. The Environmental Protection Agency tells us that a permanent solution is coming, but not for several years.
