But this time the far left rallied against House Democratic leaders’ plans to rebuke Omar, arguing: that others have said worse with impunity , and that American Muslims are the victims of far worse . The result: an anodyne resolution condemning religious bigotry generally. Therefore, House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn was wrong to declare Omar’s grief “more personal” than that involving the long-ago Holocaust. Conversely, Rep. Juan Vargas erred in declaring off-limits any questioning of the U.S.-Israel relationship.
