'It struck me just how much potential we have on this tiny island of seven million people'
Standing in the Stade de France on Saturday night as ‘Zombie’ bellowed out across the Parisian night sky, it was hard not to feel an immense sense of pride of what the Ireland rugby team has achieved.
The manner in which the team steamrolled the Scots and the bond they have forged with fans both inside and outside the stadium is a huge feat. After beating current world champions South Africa in the same stadium the week before in a monumental clash, a week long debate took place about fans singing a Cranberries hit at the end of the game. How depressing is that?
We're even facing the possibility of one political party potentially vetoing the extra cash needed to fund a new sports stadium, which at present is the only hope of Northern Ireland joining the rest of the UK and Ireland's bid to host Euro 2028.
