Opinion: I just went to D.C. to lobby Joe Biden to save Friendship Park. If only he'd listen. [Opinion]

The Biden administration’s decision to stop using Title 42 to control immigration has spurred a broader conversation about the border.But the border will continue to bedevil President Joe Biden, as it did his predecessors, because the political class in Washington remains utterly bereft of both political courage and political vision when matters relating to the border are put before them.

On Tuesday, I was part of a five-member delegation of community leaders who went to Washington and met with high-ranking administration officials. We showed them live-streamed images of Friendship Park, where the first of the new walls is now being erected. We explained to them the potential inherent in this unique site, the potential to serve as both a symbol of and platform for transnational friendship.
