The eviction moratorium set to be discussed at the meeting has been in place since the beginning of the pandemic. It allows renters to avoid paying rent, irrespective of whether or not a renter has been financially affected by COVID-19 or their ability to pay. In a survey conducted by the county last summer, over 97% of the landlords who responded had tenants who were behind on rent, by an average of $22,920.
