SAN ANTONIO - The U.S. Marshals Service and the Lone Star Task Force along with dozens of different agencies announced the conclusion of Operation North Star on Monday.
This operation focused on fugitives wanted for the most violent crimes, including homicide, sexual assault, robbery, aggravated assault, and firearm charges related to convicted felons. ONS was conducted in the San Antonio Division as well as ten other metropolitan areas across the U.S., from May 10 to Sept. 13. During this time, officials made 21 arrests for homicide in San Antonio and 554 arrests in total. They also made 100 arrests for sexual offenses and 75 arrests for weapon offenses. 100 firearms were seized as well as 7 vehicles and $32,000, and more than 300 pounds of drugs. "Statistically, overall, the San Antonio Division ranked number one in the country, amongst all other nine participating metropolitan areas," said Brandon Filla, Deputy U.S. Marshal, Western District of Texas and Public Information Officer.“Our Deputies and Task Force Operators live and work in this area,” said District of West Texas Marshal Susan Pamerleau. “We want safer communities like all residents do. By working together, all the members of our law enforcement task force made an impact on making our community safer. This is what we do every day.
