Since the start of Operation 216 in August, U.S. marshals and the Cleveland Division of police have arrested 15 homicide suspects.
CLEVELAND, Ohio – A federal task force arrested a man and a juvenile Wednesday and accused them of homicides in Cleveland. The suspects were wanted by police on warrants involving aggravated murder. Authorities allege a 17-year-old boy shot, 30, of Cleveland on June 23.
Police found Carlile in an alley behind a gas station on West 73rd Street and Lorain Avenue in the city’s Detroit-Shoreway neighborhood. A police report said Carlile was robbed during the attack, and the suspect took his bicycle. Carlile suffered gunshots to the stomach and leg, authorities said. Members of the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitives Task Force arrested the teen at an address near the 2500 block of East 43rd Street in Cleveland. Police also arrested Anthony Lewis on Wednesday. He is accused in the fatal shooting of Lamar Petty, 37, of Cleveland on Sunday. The shooting took place in a yard outside of a home in the 18000 block of Fairville Avenue in Cleveland. Lewis was arrested outside of a home in the 4600 block of West 174th Street in Cleveland, according to authorities. The two arrests mark the 15th homicide arrests since the start of “Operation 216,” a recent partnership with Cleveland police and U.S. marshals to target violent crime areas and arrest individuals with outstanding warrants. The task force, run by the marshals, began in 2003. It has arrested 2,186 people on warrants for homicide, according to U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott.
