OpenAI's highly anticipated GPT-5 didn't quite meet the expectations. Users have now asked Sam Altman and team to reinstate the old models.
OpenAI launched its highly anticipated AI model, GPT-5 , earlier this week, hailing it as its most powerful model yet. However, CEO Sam Altman has now confirmed the launch was anything but smooth, causing a wide outcry amongst its users for bringing back the GPT-4o model.During a Reddit Ask Me Anything session on Friday, many users raised a red flag, saying GPT-5 was “dumber” and didn’t quite live up to the hype.
“Also, we are making some interventions to how the decision boundary works that should help you get the right model more often. We will make it more transparent about which model is answering a given query,” he promised.The “chart crime” jokesAltman was also quizzed heavily regarding the wildly inaccurate chart that was presented by the OpenAI team during the live presentation. The chart presented a lower benchmark score with a much taller bar, inviting a flurry of jokes online.
