The north San Antonio seat was vacated by Lyle Larson when the San Antonio Republican announced in October he would not seek reelection. The district is expected to be competitive in November, a relative rarity after a redistricting process that culled competitive districts. Collier was the 2018 Democratic nominee for lieutenant governor and came within 5 percentage points of unseating Patrick that year.In House District 31 which stretches south from San Antonio through 10 counties, incumbent Rep. Ryan Guillen, who switched from the Democratic Party to the GOP last fall, held a solid lead with about 10,000 votes reported in unofficial results Tuesday night over two challengers.
