After being abruptly postponed last month, the open house for the future of the park has a new date.
The Central Railroad of New Jersey Terminal at Liberty State Park in Jersey City on Thursday, March 16, 2023. An open house on plans to revitalize Liberty State Park now has a new date after being abruptly postponed last month.
The state Department of Environmental Protection announced Monday afternoon that the event has been rescheduled for May 24 from 6-8 p.m. at the CRRNJ Terminal in the park.for the park that include remediating the contaminated interior, adding recreational amenities on the northern side, revitalizing the historic train sheds, and creating a master plan for the rest of the park.
The plans did not include the construction of multiple large-scale arenas, which are being promoted by groups like Liberty State Park For All and People’s Park Foundation.just two days before the original date, with the DEP citing “significant public interest” at the time.
