Some of the 25 affected traders claimed that the new site was prone to flash floods and lightning strikes.
Some of the 25 affected traders, who were previously operating from Jalan Seri Putra 1/1, claimed that the new site was prone to flash floods and lightning strikes. However, being caught in a lightning storm in the open area on April 29 left them fearing for their lives and they moved back to their original spot the next day.
“MPKj called us for a meeting at SRA Bandar Seri Putra on March 3 and informed us verbally to move to the new site by March 20.“There are some 30 unlicensed petty traders along Jalan Seri Putra 1/1 who started operating during the Covid-19 pandemic. The new trading site was covered in ankle-deep waters during a storm on April 29.
“MPKj should have made sure that the new site was suitable, by doing all the necessary remedial work before forcing us to relocate,” he added.
