Just one week after House Speaker Kevin McCarthy was ousted from his leadership position, GOP voters remain divided on whether the move was the right call against the backdrop of a looming government shutdown and emerging wars abroad.

The Associated Press poll surveyed 1,163 voters from Oct. 5-9 and has a margin of error of 3.9 percentage points. Gaetz introduced the motion to vacate earlier this week over allegations McCarthy crafted a “secret deal” with Democrats to advance Ukraine funding in exchange for support on a continuing resolution passed over the weekend to avert a government shutdown.
