Every single Bay Area lawmaker except one voted to keep California's last nuclear plant open.

In the San Francisco Bay Area, every single lawmaker voted to keep the plant open save Assemblymember Alex Lee of Milpitas, who did not cast a vote. Lee, one of the chamber’s progressives, did not respond to multiple SFGATE requests for comment asking why he abstained. Other notable Bay Area progressives, including Assemblymembers Ash Kalra and Evan Low, voted in favor of the legislation.

A few other Democrats in both chambers also did not cast votes, most notably Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon, whoSeveral prominent conservatives in the Assembly, including Assemblymembers Kevin Kiley and James Gallagher, voted in favor of the bill, but most Republicans in the state Senate did not vote.
