A 31-year-old Bay Area man was one of seven people arrested in connection with the Orinda party shooting, none of whom were charged.
SAN FRANCISCO — A 31-year-old Bay Area man who was one of the seven people arrested — but never charged — in the 2019 Orinda Halloween house party shootout that left five dead has been sentenced to 22 months in prison for possessing firearms in 2021, court records show.
In June 2021, Marin County Sheriff’s conducted an unrelated search of Wallace’s home, where they discovered the firearms. Wallace was not allowed to possess guns due to prior felony convictions, including for gun possession, court records show. Prosecutors say the unserialized AR-15-style weapon was found “an unsecured duffel bag on the ground in the closet of the upstairs bedroom surrounded by children’s clothes and toys.
“My fiancé and children inspire me to do better in life and strive for greatness each day. I cannot express enough how deeply sadden and remorseful I feel for the mistakes I have made,” Wallace wrote. He later added, “Despite the current case, I still believe to be an honorable individual, a valuable member to my community, and a good human being.”
“Cameras captured Wallace pull a firearm out of a satchel and put it down his pants just moments before entering a crowded house party,” prosecutors wrote in the memo, adding that the shooting started “a few minutes later.” The U.S. Attorneys office also pulled screenshots from Wallace’s Instagram account, which show him posing with firearms and include lyrics referencing shooting a Glock pistol.
