First leaks of the OnePlus Open 2 suggest an updated design, larger displays, better ergonomics, and upgraded cameras.
In 2024, OnePlus prioritized revamping its user interface and elevating its flagship candy bar phone. This led to the postponement of its second foldable phone , delaying an upgrade to the OnePlus Open launched in 2023. However, leaks about the OnePlus Open 2 are emerging, suggesting a launch may be imminent. SmartPrix, citing insights from leakers Chunvn and Yogesh Brar, provides a glimpse into the potential specifications of the OnePlus Open 2 .
The OnePlus Open 2 is rumored to feature an updated design with curved edges, slightly larger displays, and improved ergonomics. The thickness in the folded state is expected to be reduced to less than 10mm, making it one of the thinnest book-style foldable phones. OnePlus is anticipated to enhance water resistance with an IPX8 rating, allowing the phone to withstand brief water submersion. The foldable is projected to receive display upgrades, with the inner display expanding to 8 inches from 7.8 inches on the previous generation, and the outer display increasing to 6.4 inches from 6.3 inches. The OnePlus Open 2 is slated to retain triple rear cameras, but with a revised lens arrangement and upgraded sensors. Previous leaks indicate a transition to triple 50MP cameras on the back, likely mirroring the setup on the OnePlus 13. Selfie cameras, both the inner 20MP and the cover display 32MP, are expected to remain unchanged. The Open 2 will likely benefit from notable performance enhancements thanks to the newer Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. This will be coupled with 16GB of RAM and up to a terabyte of storage, similar to the OnePlus Open’s Apex Edition
