The East Midlands has not had its fair share - but this is about to change
The East Midlands has been treated very badly. Year after year, data released by the Government has shown that our region has seen the lowest levels of Government investment in the UK.
Nottingham is one of the relatively few UK cities with a tram system and if its future is secured, Derby remains home to the UK's largest train factory. Historically, our region has produced world-leading scientists, industrialists, creatives and philosophers.Tourists continue to flock here to take in everything from the majesty of the Peak District to our cacophony of palatial buildings like Wollaton Hall, Newstead Abbey and Chatsworth House.
This body is being given billions of pounds by Government to make decisions in areas such as housing, jobs and transport that are currently made in Westminster. Leading this authority will be the first East Midlands Mayor - and you get to decide who gets this crucial job.
