The average monthly Social Security benefit of $1,907 doesn’t cover the typical monthly rent of a one-bedroom apartment in Los Angeles. As America's population ages and the cost of living continues to rise, the challenges faced by seniors on fixed incomes will likely worsen. This issue hits close to home for me.
