One-Punch Man artist teases Eyeshield 21 project.
Yusuke Murata, the artist for One-Punch-Man, recently posted a 47-second animated teaser online for BRAINxBRAVE, an upcoming short based on Eyeshield 21. While the one-shot is yet to be released, the clip itself shows the main cast lovingly brought to life once again. The new project commemorates the 21-year anniversary of the American Football Manga drawn by Murata, which originally ran between 2002 and 2009.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT The original clip was uploaded to Murata's personal X account, but was quickly republished by the Shonen Jump News fan account, which also shared that the completed work would be published on the Shonen Jump+ app. The teaser confirms that both of the manga's creators - writer Riichiro Inagaki and artist Murata - are teaming up again after more than 20 years to craft the new story.
There is a bit of ambiguity as to what the revival will entail though. While Shonen Jump called the video a "preview", Murata's own tweet, when translated, describes it as a "one-shot announcement animation". This indicates that the animation itself is just a promotion, rather than a look at the final product. In that case, what Murata and Inagaki are working on may turn out to be another manga.
