After dropping yet another spectacular episode, One Piece is paving the way for an even more exciting one next week. At long last, Vegapunk's broadcast has taken off in episode 1147, and it's safe to say the upcoming episodes have some big revelations in store, and one of these revelations could be even bigger than Gear Five.
The latest episode of One Piece has already dropped a major bombshell in the form of Vegapunk's claim that the world of One Piece is going to sink. But, before the series reveals more about what exactly that means or whether it's even, One Piece first plans to drop some major lore about Joyboy, and it's happening on November 2. One Piece's Anime Will Drop Major Joyboy Lore on November 2 Episode 1148 of One Piece, which releases on November 2, 2025, is expected to finally give fans some new information on Joyboy, the elusive figure tied to the Nika Fruit, the Void Century, and several other mysteries. The upcoming episode is set to adapt Chapter 1114 of the manga, in which Vegapunk shockingly introduces Joyboy as the"first pirate." The next episode is also titled"The Lost History - Joyboy, the First Pirate," which pretty much gives away the big revelation in question. Regardless, this might just be the first new piece of information the series has dropped about Joyboy since the Wano Arc, when Oden's flashback revealed Joyboy left behind the final treasure. The Wano Arc also confirmed once and for all that Joyboy was indeed a previous user of the Nika Fruit through Zunesha. But, even this was way back in episode 1070, which was released back in July 2023, making it well over two years and 78 episodes since the last Joyboy reveal. Even with everything the manga has revealed since, it's still unclear how Joyboy came to be One Piece's first pirate, or what significance this title holds beyond adding to his mysterious legacy. As seen in Episode 1145, there also seems to be a link between Joyboy and Egghead's Iron Giant, who was seen muttering an apology to Joyboy for some unknown reason. One Piece's anime will eventually dive further into this particular mystery, but to learn more, fans will simply have to wait a few more weeks. But, until then, the anime has many exciting episodes coming up, as the big reveal about Joyboy is only the beginning of Vegapunk's big exposé. One Piece's Egghead Arc May Eclipse Gear Five's Internet-Breaking Debut All in all, even though it's been well over two years since Gear Five's anime debut, the episode's reception is near unforgettable. In particular, Episode 1071 of One Piece crashed multiple streaming websites on the day of its release, just from the sheer volume of viewers tuning in for the debut episode of Gear Five. That said, despite the intense viewership it garnered, it is worth noting that many found the episode itself a bit underwhelming. The main reason for this was that in faithfully adapting the manga panel-for-panel, episode 1071 cut away from Gear Five's awakening quite a few times to check in on characters such as Sanji and Hiyori. The anime didn't quite give fans a proper, uninterrupted look at Gear Five until an episode or two later. As such, it's entirely possible that the Egghead Arc, and its upcoming exposition-heavy episodes, could overtake Gear Five in terms of reception but also pure hype. One Piece's anime has left nothing to be desired as late, be it in terms of the art direction, the animation, or the fight choreography. Nearly every new episode continues to receive stellar ratings, and if this continues, the series may just be on its way to breaking the internet once again, starting with its upcoming episode on November 2.
