The latest addition to the expansive franchise diverges significantly from the series' trademark action and combat. This new special, titled One Piece novel HEROINES - episode: NAMI, centers on the beloved navigator Nami and her partner Nico Robin, presenting a heroine-focused narrative where intelligence, strategy, and style replace sword fights. Adapted from Jun Esaka's light novel series One Piece: Heroines, the 24-minute episode reimagines the vibrant world of One Piece through a fresh, fashion-forward lens.
The plot sees Nami and Robin infiltrating a high-society fashion show hosted by the designer Lebno Listchaque, who has incorporated stolen pirate treasures into his luxury garments. The duo must execute a sophisticated heist to reclaim the loot, blending espionage with haute couture. This standalone story promises a lighter, more comedic tone, highlighting Nami's cleverness and Robin's scholarly prowess in a scenario far removed from naval battles and Devil Fruit powers.
The special is a production of Toei Animation, with director Haruka Kamatani leading a team that includes screenwriter Momoka Toyoda, animation director Takashi Kojima, and composer Alisa Okehazama. The theme song, "Blue Shining Star," is performed by the renowned Japanese artist AiNA THE END.
