‘Daily progress is slow’: Erik Cantu’s family gives update on his condition
“Daily progress is slow, if any at all, but setbacks like this put us in fear of his journey forward,” continued the statement, released to the San Antonio Express-News by Brian Powers, Cantu’s lawyer.
The family reiterated that Cantu is their primary focus right now and that there are no plans to make a public appearance until “he’s out of the woods.”On ExpressNews.com:Previous statements from the family via Powers said Cantu needed multiple surgeries to repair major organs, depended on a life support system to “keep his lungs operating” and “remains on a vast amount of sedatives to hopefully ease the discomfort and pain.
“We are tormented with pain having to see him this way and our heart shatters having to imagine what he’s going through,” the family said in Saturday’s statement. “His recovery has been a roller coaster of extreme ups and downs,” the family said. “Please continue to send your thoughts and prayers as Erik’s journey can not be fulfilled alone. We need your hope and faith for him.”On ExpressNews.com:
