Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Jujutsu Kaisen fans will be shocked to find out one of the bravest heroes in the series, Nanami, was originally intended to be a villain. One of the absolute best aspects of the popular shonen anime series is its phenomenal character development. Gege Akutami is a true master at crafting characters that are memorable, relatable, complex, and human enough to almost seem real.
The interview goes on to explain a different potential origin story for the character: "he was going to work for a shady company and then become a jujutsu user and ally." When considering Kento's selfless and brave actions in the series, this news is astounding. Nanami's Death Is Still One of the Saddest Moments in Jujutsu Kaisen Close In Akutami's original character design, Nanami would have worked for "a shady company." This is quite difficult to picture due to his disdain for corporate life. At one point in the series, he even proclaims that "office work is useless," so in this context, it's hard to imagine him becoming devoted to any company enough to comprise his morals.
As An Antagonist, Nanami Would Not Have The Same Impact As A Character Jujutsu Kaisen produced by MAPPA, based on the original manga by Gege Akutami Antagonistic characters who become redeemed and turn to the good side are often amazing characters, but Nanami's place in the series as a true hero throughout was the correct choice for his particular role.
