The family has plans to demolish the fast-food building and erect an 8,000-square-foot restaurant. Mark Black wants to open the barbecue joint “as soon as possible,” but thinks the date will be sometime in 2024.

Terry Black's Barbecue in Dallas has a spacious patio that felt pandemic friendly when diners were wary to eat indoors. It's not clear yet what the layout of the restaurant will be in Fort Worth. The owners expect to open it in 2024. The Dallas barbecue joint opened just a few months before the COVID-19 pandemic took hold, which could have been a death omen for a brand-new spot. Not Terry Black’s: It had a middling 2020 but a strong spike in business in 2021, Black says, that got even better in 2022. And during those few years, the Black brothers were steadily buying real estate across Texas, with big plans for barbecue.— even better than Lockhart — with restaurants like Goldee’s, Panther City, Dayne’s, Smoke-A-Holics and more serving serious ‘cue.“It’s kind of natural, to expand to Fort Worth,” Mark Black says. “Fort Worth is a unique city.
