Los Angeles County marks one month since the catastrophic wildfires that ravaged the region. While the Eaton, Hughes, and Palisades fires are contained, the road to recovery for thousands remains long and arduous. Crews continue to monitor fire zones for potential mudslides and debris flows. Mayor Karen Bass addresses the city, emphasizing ongoing efforts to support residents and businesses impacted by the fires.

Friday marks one month since the devastating wildfires swept through Los Angeles County. While the Eaton, Hughes, and Palisades fires are now fully contained, thousands continue their arduous journey towards recovery. A month after the initial eruption of the Eaton, Palisades, and Hurst fires, LA Mayor Karen Bass held a press conference, offering updates on the recovery efforts.

She expressed gratitude to the first responders for their tireless work and President Donald Trump for his commitment to aiding in the rebuilding of communities ravaged by the fires. Bass highlighted the LA Disaster Relief Navigator, a resource designed to connect fire victims with the necessary support and aid. She also announced the city's initiative to establish one-stop centers to assist fire victims with the rebuilding process.'We have more work to do,' stated Mayor Bass, reiterating her collaboration with local, state, and federal authorities to expedite services for residents and businesses affected by the LA wildfires. 'We are going to build Los Angeles back to being the number one city in the country,' she concluded. Crews remain on high alert, monitoring hillsides in the Eaton and Palisades fire zones for potential mudslides and debris flows following this week's storms. The Pacific Coast Highway remains closed indefinitely between Chautauqua Boulevard in the Pacific Palisades and Carbon Beach Terrace in Malibu due to a mudslide at Pacific Coast Highway and Big Rock Drive. Authorities have implemented a curfew from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. for all areas under mandatory evacuation orders in the Altadena area. This measure follows over 30 arrests for looting made by the LA County Sheriff's Department. The cause of the Eaton Fire is under investigation, but authorities believe it was fueled by extreme drought conditions combined with the powerful Santa Ana winds, which reached speeds of 100 mph, significantly faster than usual. A lawsuit filed Monday alleges that Southern California Edison equipment sparked the Eaton Fire, claiming the company failed to adhere to essential electrical and fire safety standards, including the maintenance of power lines and vegetation control. The Palisades Fire broke out on the afternoon of Tuesday, January 7th, as parts of Southern California experienced the strongest Santa Ana winds in over a decade. These fierce winds not only intensified the fire's spread but also hampered aerial firefighting efforts, as it was deemed too dangerous for helicopters and planes to operate during the first day of the massive blaze. The fire spanned over 23,000 acres within seven days, destroying homes and businesses across the Pacific Palisades and Malibu. The blaze also necessitated evacuations across parts of LA County, including Bel-Air, Brentwood, and Santa Monica. The fire's path also resulted in the destruction of the Pacific Palisades Charter High School and other educational institutions in the affected areas. The cause of the Palisades Fire remains under investigation. The Los Angeles Times reports that Skull Rock, a popular hiking destination north of Sunset Boulevard in Pacific Palisades, is under scrutiny as a potential starting point for the fire. Meanwhile, local authorities have announced multiple arrests made at the Palisades Fire scenes, though none directly linked to the fire's origin. Over the weekend, an individual was arrested for impersonating a firefighter and attempting to break into an evacuated residence. Other cases involve accusations of arson across Southern California
