Three men were trapped when part of a building collapsed in the West Garfield Park neighborhood late Tuesday, and one of the men did not survive.
Sekou Bey said he and his son were driving on Jackson Boulevard when he saw large smoke billowing from the building.
Family members were seen crying in devastation when they arrived on the scene after seeing the collapse. Chicago police and firefighters are responding to reports of a porch collapse in the East Garfield Park neighborhood. At least three people are hurt, including one person trapped. The architecture of the building resembled the Parthenon – with a pitched roof in front, and a cornice hanging overhead to deflect water from the walls.
