Nationally, a record number of people were on NHS waiting lists in England in July, according to the latest data
One in five patients had an A&E wait of more than 12 hours at a Greater Manchester hospital, new figures show. Some 595 patients spent longer than 12 hours in the Royal Bolton Hospital's A&E department in August, the latest NHS figures about the country's waiting times show.
A&E admission waiting times The situation at the country’s A&E departments is not as severe as at the height of the winter crisis, but are still well below targets and historical averages. The next highest, proportionally, is Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Trust seeing 222 of its patients waiting longer than 12 hours from a decision to admit them to actual admission to a bed. That's seven per cent of the trust's admissions.
“Although the UEC Services are busy, we still want to remind everyone that we are still here and available for those who need us and encourage those who require urgent medical help to continue to come forward. That’s not the highest on record - that was the 54,573 people in March this year - but is an increase on the 26,899 people in July. At one hospital trust - North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust - 44 per cent of emergency admissions had to wait over 12 hours to be admitted.Ambulance waiting times Ambulance waiting fell slightly in August compared to the previous month.
What does the NHS say? NHS England said the data showed ambulance response times have improved for the third month in a row despite A&Es facing their busiest summer ever.
