A person was fatally shot Wednesday night in an East Oakland neighborhood, authorities said.
Shortly before 9:30 p.m., officers responded to reports of ShotSpotter activity in the 1800 block of 89th Avenue in the city’s Webster neighborhood, police said.
When officers arrived, they found a vehicle struck by gunfire, as well as a person nearby in the 8800 block of Birch Street suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite emergency life-saving measures by officers and paramedics who also responded, the person was pronounced dead at the scene.Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $10,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of suspects.
