Two people shot near Oakland City Hall
OAKLAND — One person was killed and another was wounded in a shooting Tuesday afternoon near Oakland City Hall, authorities said.The shooting happened about 2:15 p.m. in the area of 14th Street and Broadway. One of the victims was apparently shot in the chest and died later at a hospital, authorities said.
A suspect was seen running northbound on Broadway after the shooting, authorities said. A motive for the shooting was under investigation.A City Council meeting was happening at the time of the shooting, but went into recess once word was received of the shooting, authorities said. The meeting later resumed.
