But the jury is still deliberating on his younger co-defendant
A 24-year-old Nottingham man has been cleared of any involvement in the killing of a father-of-two, who was stabbed to death at the city’s Crown Island on Christmas Day. Following more than a day of deliberations, a jury found Morgan Keaton-Adlam not guilty of both the murder and manslaughter of 29-year-old Reece Connor.
The teenager said it was the victim who brought and then dropped the blade which he picked up and used “in fear for my life” that it would instead be used on him by Mr Connor who he says repeatedly told him “I am going to kill you”. Giving evidence, Dockeray-Barnett, of Marchwood Close, Nottingham, said before the stabbing, he was in an underpass close to the Crown pub and encountered Mr Connor who he said assaulted him. He said he then called for his foster cousin, of Southwold Drive, who was represented by James Horne KC, and who arrived and the pair came across the victim close by.
“He was just screaming he was going to kill me, I feared that he had got a knife and was going to stab me and at that point he dropped it and he tried to punch me to get hold of the knife.”
