As the city’s finest cops investigated the harrowing incident, the Chicago P.D. hunted down the suspects responsible for the explosion. They eventually uncovered a shocking truth: one of the four assailants was Lauren Bates (Jennifer Regan), a former PD member who had a history with the team. Bates had previously shot Trudy Platt (Amy Morton) in the back during a previous encounter.Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney), who uncovered the intentional nature of the explosion, came face-to-face with two masked and armed men but managed to escape unharmed. He alerted the PD to the descriptions of the men, prompting Platt and Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) to pursue them. When Platt apprehended one of the men, a surprise attack left her critically injured with a gunshot wound to the back. Thankfully, after a nail-biting medical procedure at Gaffney Medical Center, Platt survived the ordeal.
