Concept art for an upcoming Battlefield game showing a scene of large-scale destruction.

Following the last few disastrous outings to come out of the franchise, there has been plenty of speculation around the upcoming release of Battlefield 6 ever since it was first announced. While there was plenty of animosity or concern leading up to the announcement, the initial reveal of Battlefield 6 showed off everything I wanted to hear as a long-time fan of the series.

Despite plenty of initial praise, EA has been mostly radio silent regarding the ongoing alpha tests of Battlefield Labs and the state of the future release. Even though the reveal of Battlefield Labs sounded like the perfect way to avoid the mistakes of the past, its ongoing testing seems to be doing more harm than good for the publicity of the title. After five months of testing and data mining, there have been numerous controversies over included features that have a rising number of players preparing for another disaster from the infamous publisher. Even if EA isn't quite ready to put out a release date for Battlefield 6 just yet, that doesn't mean they can't work towards easing player concerns through one simple update. Battlefield 6 Needs An Official Gameplay Trailer Putting Fan Concerns At Rest With More In-Game Footage Close After nearly half-a year of beta testing, both DICE and EA have been surprisingly silent about the future of Battlefield 6, aside from the occasional development update on X. Given EA's incredibly lofty aims for the success of the latest entry in the Battlefield franchise, the lack of an actual gameplay or cinematic trailer of any kind so far after its official reveal or leaked gameplay feels like a missed opporuntity for Battlefield 6. EA hasn't done much to stem the flow of negativity over Battlefield 6's controversial design choices. While the occasional technical update does help to show that the studio is still acknowledging feedback from their alpha testers, EA hasn't done much to stem the flow of negativity over Battlefield 6's controversial design choices. Although a gameplay trailer has the highest chance to distract players and help turn around public opinion over the upcoming Battlefield 6, it isn't the only option for EA. Simply releasing another dev diary with more gameplay footage and explanations of the alpha testing process would be a great way to combat Battlefield 6's fear-inducing leaks. EA Isn’t Controlling The Battlefield 6 Narrative Keeping Players In The Loop is A Great Way To Rebuild Trust EA already has a long list of mistakes to avoid for Battlefield and its future based on the failures of past entries, but they've done a poor job at controlling the narrative for Battlefield 6. Rather than trying to silence leaks and rumors from their alpha tests, EA would likely have an easier time staying on top of things by creating an open dialogue with its community. While I'm still cautiously optimistic about the future of Battlefield, it's hard not to get more worried after each rumor of non-class restricted weapons or the lack of an official server browser. Related Battlefield 6 Is Starting To Look Way Too Much Like One 2019 Blockbuster FPS Battlefield’s return to a modern setting is refreshing for the series, but certain clips look like it’s taking inspiration from a concerning source. Posts 5 Outside the playtests, both studios seem mostly unresponsive to the concerns of players as a whole, which isn't doing the studio any favors in rebuilding the trust lost after the most recent Battlefield 2042. Even if EA doesn't want to deal with the same high expectations that Battlefield 2042's fantastic trailer created, the negative publicity around Battlefield 6 will likely keep snowballing until it goes out of control unless EA acts fast. 6 Images 6 Images Close Your Rating close 10 stars 9 stars 8 stars 7 stars 6 stars 5 stars 4 stars 3 stars 2 stars 1 star Rate Now 0/10 Your comment has not been saved Like Follow Followed Battlefield 2042 First-Person Shooter Systems 4/10 OpenCritic Reviews Top Critic Avg: 65/100 Critics Rec: 33% Released November 19, 2021 ESRB M for Mature: Blood, Strong Language, Violence Developer DICE, Criterion Games, Ripple Effect Publisher Electronic Arts Engine Frostbite
