Since May, Democrats, the White House and Republicans have all supported another round of $1,200 checks, but Senate Republicans’ latest stimulus plan didn’t include the popular benefit.

President Trump on Wednesday yet again blamed Democrats for delays in coronavirus relief legislation, suggesting that the party doesn’t support sending out another round of direct payments. That’s not exactly true. ... [+]Over the last weeks and months, Democrats, Republicans and the White House all appeared to agree on the need for another round of stimulus checks.

The White House, during unsuccessful negotiations over the summer with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi , indicated that it would be prepared to accept another round of checks in the next bill. Later that month, Republicans released their own plan for the next bill in the form of the fragmented, which also included more stimulus checks just like the first round from the CARES Act, but the HEALS Act never passed the Republican-controlled Senate.
