BATU PAHAT: A company director has pleaded not guilty at a Magistrate’s Court here to evading taxes of about RM545,000.

According to the facts of the case, the company had failed to file taxes for the financial years of 2019, 2020 and 2021, amounting to RM545,388.64.

The Batu Pahat-based company, which exports, imports and manufactures wooden products such as pallets, recorded a taxable income of more than RM2.76mil in the three years. Under Section 77A of the Income Tax Act, companies are required to submit an income tax return form within seven months from the date of the closing of accounts, failing which, Goh as the company director, was accused of committing an offence under Section 112 of the Act.
