Narvaez began last season in a job share with Tomas Nido, but a calf strain sent Narvaez to the injured list a week into the season. In Narvaez’s absence — which lasted into early June — rookie Francisco Alvarez emerged as the primary catcher. Narvaez, 31, appeared in 49 games for the Mets and owned a .211/.283/.297 slash line with two homers and seven RBIs.
