Speaking to Sky News' Daily Podcast, Sir Keith said he was proud of the way the Games changed the perception of disability in sport, but apologised for the lack of uptake in sports particularly among young people.
"We were…just flabbergasted by the extraordinary response the London Games had for the Paralympic Games. We filled the Olympic Stadium with 80,000 seats. We filled that out twice a day for eight days for the Paralympic Games. It's never, ever happened before. And we didn't just change the attitude to disability in this country, we changed the attitude to disability all around the world. And many countries really don't deal with disability very well.
"But the London Paralympic Games really changed everyone's perception because it was supported so amazingly well by all those in the UK that came along like you and watched the sport and watched the extraordinary achievements of these young athletes." On the Sky News Daily podcast, host Niall Paterson speaks to Olympic gold medal winner Rebecca Adlington about being inspired by the sporting stars of the past, while we discuss the success of legacy plans both for sport and local communities with Aileen Campbell, CEO of Scottish Women's Football, along with Paul Regan, who was involved with the Olympic bid as chair of London Citizens, and Sir Keith Mills, CEO of London 2012, who worked alongside Lord Coe to organise the Games.
