On the one hand, it’s expensive to get involved — so you have young athletes who are disproportionately from wealthy families that can afford pounds of gear., according to the Institute for Policy Research. “It’s gotten really big and we’ve had a number of players that have gone on, both male and female, gone on to play nationally, internationally,” said Madahbee, who’s been involved in the league for over 50 years.
