After paying tribute to Audrey Hepburn last season, the American competitor with Italian roots emulated another timeless actor.
Levito, a former US national champion in 2023 and silver medalist at the World Championships in 2024, brings a signature lightness and grace to the ice. But she also paid homage to her Italian origins by emulating Italian screen star Sophia Loren .
In her Olympic debut with the short program, Levito performed to a medley of two songs: “Almost in Your Arms” from the film A Husband for Cynthia, which Loren sings alongside Cary Grant, and La Miliardaria, a song with a more upbeat rhythm and sharper movements. In Levito’s performance, a few narrative elements turned the ice into a stage and transported the audience inside a cinematic choreography: the red costume with the black rhinestone-covered bodice and en pendant gloves, the light-catching jewelry, and a few beauty details of extreme refinement. A subtle black eyeliner, Loren’s signature style, and quintessential diva make-up featuring mascara, a bit of blush on the cheeks and a discreet nude lipstick. For her hair, Levito chose a side braid flowing into a low chignon, a hairstyle that is very dear to her and that she has also worn in at competitions in past seasons. We will most likely see her with the same hairstyle for the free program as well, and who knows, maybe it will bring her luck. Dressing up as great divas is an artistic quirk Levito has already successfully mastered. In the 2024-25 season, she paid homage Audrey Hepburn with a short program to the tune of “Moon River,” the Oscar-winning Henry Mancini song from Breakfast at Tiffany’s. In a black velvet dress, pearl gloves and choker, Levito completed her tribute with black eyeliner and a tight-bun hairstyle she brought all of Hepburn’s character Holly Golightly’s timeless style to the ice. In the Olympic final, we will see Levito compete in the free program: another story, another dress, another dream. This is the magic of skating, which in these Olympics is one of the sports that undoubtedly has been most passionate.
