Five-time Olympic medalist Mary Lou Retton is in 'recovery mode' following a bout with a rare form of pneumonia, according to the athlete's daughter.

Retton, 55, had been in an intensive care unit in a Texas hospital earlier this month. She was “fighting for her life,” her daughter previously said.
