Olivia Hussey , best known for her role as Juliet in Franco Zeffirelli 's 1968 film adaptation of Romeo and Juliet, has died at the age of 73. Hussey passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones on Friday. She was 15 when she was cast by Zeffirelli after being spotted onstage in the play The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie. Her performance earned her a Golden Globe for Best New Actress and the film won two Oscars.
Hussey and her co-star Leonard Whiting, who played Romeo, had filed a lawsuit against Zeffirelli and the film's producers alleging they were filmed nude without their consent during a bedroom scene. Whiting paid tribute to Hussey on social media, writing: 'Rest now my beautiful Juliet no injustices can hurt you now. And the world will remember your beauty inside and out forever.
