The building is privately owned but South Ribble Borough Council says it will intervene

South Ribble Borough Council says it will take action to protect an historic but derelict and fire damaged building.

The building dates back to the early 18th century and, according to the Leyland Historical Society, is said to be the oldest housing site in Leyland. It has sat empty for some time but has previously been used as a doctor's surgery, chemist's shop, post office, printing works and offices. Two years ago, a cannabis farm was found inside the building. The building is privately owned but the council is able to make limited interventions due to it having a Grade II listing.
