Nahukay ang ilang old peso bills ng mga construction worker sa tinatrabahung perimeter fence sa isang covered court sa Barangay Telaje, Tandag City, Surigao del Sur nitong Miyerkoles.

Ang mga denomination ng nahukay na mga bills ay nasa halagang P5, P10, P20, P50, P100, P200, P500 at P1,000.

Ayon kay Police Regional Office 13 spokesperson Police Maj. Renel Serrano, hanggang ngayon hindi pa natutukoy ng kapulisan kung sino ang nagmamay-ari ng mga ibinaong mga pera. “So far, hindi pa nakilala sino ang may-ari ng ibinaong pera sa may perimeter ng covered court,” ani Serrano. Dagdag pa nito, tinatayang aabot sa P300,000 ang nahukay na pera pero nasa kamay na ito umano ng mga construction worker at umabot na lang sa mahigit kumulang P19,000 ang nai-turn over ng ibang construction worker sa kapulisan.

Ayon sa Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, wala nang monetary value ang mga nahukay na pera at hindi na ito magagamit pa o mapapalitan sa bangko at pang collector's item na lang umano ang pera.
