Promoter James “Disco Donnie” Estopinal and Dallas entrepreneur Patrick Tetrick have spent the better part of this decade dreaming of a state-of-the-art live...

SILO Dallas is set to open Sept. 19 with popular Dutch DJ and music producer Tiësto as its opening act.

Construction began in 2021 to transform the 2.7 acres of land and former grain silo, built in 1959 for the Johnson Grain Company, into Dallas’ hub for live music and entertainment. When it’s done, the venue will be able to hold over 3,000 attendees and will require around 100 employees on any given night.

Since then, the two have spent millions to renovate the former grain silo and catch up with 60 years of building regulations. The first two years were mainly spent at City Hall with the last 10 months constructing the venue. Renovations aren’t limited to within SILO Dallas’ four walls either. “If you have a partner with the same vision as you, you don’t look at the numbers as strongly because you’re investing in a real future and something special,” Estopinal said. “So I’m not worried about spending some extra money. If it costs extra to add some bells and whistles, it will make our next shows even stronger.

“We reached a tipping point where we weren’t the ones making the calls anymore. Tiësto brings so much weight and credibility and they all talk to each other,” he said. “When he and others said they were doing SILO to people, it self-propelled us. Plus, when Donnie calls, even artists pick up the phone.”Estopinal, a promoter who entered the dance music scene in the mid-1990s, had been building shows in Dallas for 25 years before SILO Dallas was even an idea.
