Training can be hard when you work on an oil rig in the middle of the North Sea for two weeks at a time but Daniel's running partner, Maisie the dog, spurred him on when he got home with her boundless energy
Daniel said: “Mum got diagnosed with gallbladder cancer and just five months later she died, it was all so quick, it was during lockdown, and it was very hard to process. I had to go and do an offshore survival course the day after she died because I made a promise to her that I’d carry on.. She’d often put her own life on hold to help others, she was just that kind of person, she touched the hearts of so many and will be forever loved and missed.coach, but I’ve never liked running.
The training was a juggle for Daniel as he splits his time between life on the oil rig and back home with his wife Amy and their three young children, Charlie, Amelia, and Henry.Daniel said: “My dog, Maisie, was my training partner, she was great company and spurred me on as she never seemed to get tired. I spend two weeks at a time out on the rig where I had to train on the treadmill, which got a bit tedious but my colleagues were supportive.
