Singapore — Oil prices rose on Monday, extending gains from the previous session, after China eased some of its strict Covid-19 protocols, fuelling hopes of a recovery in economic activity and demand at the world's top crude importer.

Commodities prices rallied on Friday after China's National Health Commission adjusted its Covid-19 prevention and control measures. But Covid-19 cases climbed in China at the weekend. The easing curbs in China, the world's largest crude oil importer, included shortening quarantine times for close contacts of cases and inbound travellers by two days, as well as eliminating a penalty on airlines for bringing in infected passengers.
